| Hello!
No-one particularly likes change, and it was with a fair amount of soul-searching that the decision was made to abandon the old Breathing Space forum over at Yuku. There are a number of reasons: the all-pervasive ads on the Yuku site, the slow speed and unreliability of the Yuku forum, and a number of functionality issues which made using the forum an irritation at times. The move has 'fixed' these issues: ads are no longer visible to members, and the new forum is considerably faster and more user-friendly than the Yuku forum was. We hope you'll agree - dive in and give it a try!
As with the old forum, there are a few of us who have moderator status here: the band (obviously), and also myself, Colin, Helen and Trevor. I do want to emphasise once again, however, that here, moderation is a last resort. The band is happy to hear constructive criticism, and we should all remember that other's opinions are just that: opinions, not facts. As with any forum, outright insults and "flame wars" will be shut down/removed, but if we all treat each other with respect, then there'll be no need for any moderation at all!
The forum is split into sections for a reason: so it's easy for everyone to read! So please take heed of the titles of the various sections of the forum, and start new topics in the area they're best suited to. Topics can be moved by the moderators, but if everyone takes care, there'll be no need to do so.
I should also mention that we are still continuing to tweak and improve the forum, to make it a nicer and more user-friendly place to be. If you notice something amiss, or that doesn't seem to be working properly, please let the moderators know and we'll do our very best to sort it out!
We hope you like it here, and that you decide to stick around!

| I was just wondering why you'd changed having just tried to post on the old forum, it was quite convenient being on the same system as MA. This one is faster, but I never remember seeing any adverts on the Yuku system?? Perhaps I have advert blindness, which doesn't seem like a bad thing... | |

| This is so weird, after using the old forum for so long. I like all the extras though Dave. And it is more user friendly. Thanks for all your efforts in providing it | |

I think you're probably the only person (other than me - as board admin I never saw a single ad!) to have not been overwhelmed with the omnipresent ads on the Yuku board! If you do have ad blindness, count yourself lucky! I can appreciate that the BS and MA boards being on the same system was handy for many - I'm sure a good chunk of the BS fanbase came to them via Iain's role with MA (myself included!). It was the sheer number of complaints I received about Yuku (not to mention my own misgivings about their considerably less flexible software) from forum users that tipped the balance and led to us using Forumotion as a host instead. I feel confident that anyone who was remotely annoyed at the old board will find this one a lot friendlier to use! Hopefully that'll outweigh any misgivings about having to log into the BS and MA boards separately...

| Hi Dave
Just signed up for the BS forum, definate improvement on Yuku. One thing I'm pleased about is that entries now have the year included which i've found irritating on Panic Room - maybe you can sort PR out?
Who's next - MA ??
cheers

Cheers, John - I shall look into the PR forum and see if there's anything I can do. The forums are built around themes, and they vary dramatically in how easy they are to tweak. No promises, but I'll cast a beady eye over it... - johninleeds wrote:

I doubt it - the MA forum is badly in need of moving off Yuku, IMO, and I'd love to have a crack at sorting it out, but I doubt MA HQ would like the sort of changes I'd like to make...
