| Every music-related forum seems to have a thread like this, so who are we to dispense with tradition? So what's the last thing you listened to? In my case, it was Pythia's Beneath The Veiled Embrace. Pythia are a female-fronted power metal band from the UK (unusual enough - most of these sort of bands seem to come from mainland Europe or Scandinavia!), fronted by Emily Ovenden (of Mediaeval Baebes fame). Best described as Kate Bush fronting Iron Maiden, with added Gothic flourishes, they really are fantastically good fun. If any of this sounds like it might be your bag, give 'em a try: http://www.pythiamusic.com http://www.myspace.com/pythiamusic |

| One of the very few classic albums from the 90s. Haven't played one this for years - The Verve's Urban Hymns. |

| Bob Marley & The Wailers - Babylon By Bus.
I don't listen to much reggae, but I've always really liked this album. And I still do today. |

| This evening's listening so far -
Breathing Space - Below The Radar Mostly Autumn - live 2009 (both discs) Robert Plant - Pictures At Eleven Big Country - No Place like Home
Next one in the CD player is going to be Robbie Robertson's same named debut solo album from 1987. It's the one with the excellent Somewhere Down The Crazy River on it. Love that song. |

| I've been doing a lot of driving recently, so most of my listening has been done in the car. Being in a lazy mood, I've set the sound system to "mix", so it's being left to its own devices when it comes to choosing the tracks. For some strange reason, it seems to have developed a love of Jackson Browne I've tried switching bcak to normal play mode, and then back into Mix, but even so, the vast majority of tracks selected are still from Mr. Browne. Not that I'm complaining, it just seems more than a little wierd... |

| Currently listening to some ambient solo bass noodlings for Steve Lawson, streaming from his own website.
Recently-played CDs:
Kyrbgrinder - Cold War Technology. Prog-funk-metal from the drummer-led power trio I first saw at the Cambridge Rock Festival last year. Rocks hard in places, also more melodic than I remember them being live. Good one,
Suede - Dog Man Star One of those occasions where I dig out an old album I hadn't played for many years, and find I'd completely forgotten how great it was. |
